The Cementation Guide - Tutorial
How to avoid shortcuts and instead establish successful practice-laboratory communication
A crucial and extremely sensitive moment in any dental restoration is cementation. When fabricating a prosthetic tooth replacement, this process is the only one that cannot be repeated.
Due to today’s diversity of materials, a cementation plan is essential to ensure proper processing until the end of the restoration. The cementation guide was designed for this purpose.
The challenge was to provide the laboratory with all the necessary information in as few points as possible. This results in less work for the dental practice while providing the laboratory staff precisely with all the information they require.

About Success Simplified with Otto Prandtner and 3M
Patient wishes, a variety of materials as well as price, success and time pressure are aspects that plague many dental technicians. The work is made even more difficult by inadequate communication between the laboratory and the dentist. Unfortunately, insufficient patient information, incomplete order documents and poor planning are still far too often part of everyday work.
The better we plan, the faster we can carry out the restoration. The decisive factor here – communication. The better our communication and our red line in the treatment plan is, the fewer failures we create.
How can we improve and simplify communication and collaboration?
In cooperation with 3M, MDT Otto Prandtner has developed an Order Form, Cementations Guide and 3 checklists in a team with practices, laboratories and the industry. The aim is to improve communication between practices and laboratories and thus reduce the effort for both sides.
